"Shooting Star"
When I was young they told me
to wish upon a star,
I said "How can I do that
When I don't know what they are"?
They said that on a clear dark night
If you look up in the sky,
Watch closely and you just might see
A shooting star go by.
You'll know it when you see one
It's bright and travels fast,
As it streaks across the sky
In the moments that it will last.
But in the moments that it's there
No star shines quite so bright,
Or travels with the speed it does
At it journeys through the night.
Make a wish and make it quick
The star's not there for long,
For as quickly as it came and went
The shooting star is gone.
So when you see a shooting star
Make a wish, oh, do
For you just might be the lucky one
For whom that wish comes true.
But if you're not that lucky one
Then still value what was there
For shooting stars are what they are
That's why they're very rare.
