What are you reading and what do you think of it?
Right now i'm reading a book called "DO IT! Let's get off our buts" by Peter McWilliams. It's kind of interesting... pretty much as the title describes. A little wordy, perhaps. I think i could write better, but what i like the best about it are the quotations... some of them are very interesting or funny! Like... [i]"Watching your book turned into a movie is like watching your oxen turned into a bouillion cube." -John LeCarre "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

I reading a book (fiction all be it) in a foreign language translated orginaly from Greek into Turkish. Called Izmir Buyuculeri. Translates as The witchcrafters of Izmir.
So far interesting but taking time getting used to reading in a different language and constantly trying to translate it. But I got interested in this book because I enjoy getting to grips with another language and adding history of countries that almost always reffered to as enemies come together to become alive. Based on the main character a young girl who's aunt at a certain time of the girls life, tells her mother to hand over a inhertiance. Now this takes place so far 23 years after the death of the aunt. The girl is trying to understand the importance of all this and gets to bought of finding what she is left with. It is she discovers old recipes, the old fashioned believed way of how a girl should grow up and diaries. She starts to read and even comes so mesmirised to believe that she is spending time as if she were around while her aunt was growing up. She is addicted that she actually start to write like a novel about it and to make sure she has not gone mad she starts to research in the bookshops about it. Anyway that is how far I have got to with the book. Sorry to bore you all with it. |
