Here's the poem of one of my favourite Scottish poets, Tom Leonard:
A Love Poem well awright then givn thit thi romantic yernin fur thht conceived az uniquely innocent iz based in the self conceived az uniquely guilty an givn thit ma idea a wummin wuz screwed up fray birth way aw sorts a rubbish dependence on ma maw thi virgin mary our lady uv the sink nun thi less wur sumdy tay ask me if ah really luv you an hookd me up tay a lie detector ahm rally convinced thit thi graphic printout would scientifically prove thi quality uv ma emotion. When was it written? I'm assuming its a newer poem (lie detector etc). There is an example of what some scots sound like when they speak. Heres mine - See thon caird ah sent yee round valentines? Aye, well ah didny mean it Say geeus it back. Cost me a fiver ya bam. Ye ken I love you though eh? |

There you see, it's quite new. Leonard is Glaswegian and especially concerned with the spoken language. |
