Here's the poem of one of my favourite Scottish poets, Tom Leonard:

A Love Poem

well awright then
givn thit
thi romantic yernin

fur thht conceived az
uniquely innocent
iz based in

the self conceived az
uniquely guilty
an givn thit

ma idea a wummin
wuz screwed up fray birth
way aw sorts a rubbish

dependence on ma maw
thi virgin mary
our lady uv the sink

nun thi less
wur sumdy tay ask me
if ah really luv you

an hookd me up
tay a lie detector
ahm rally convinced

thit thi graphic printout
would scientifically prove
thi quality uv ma emotion.

Let's discuss this poem! I'm looking forward to comments!

I like it!

When was it written? I'm assuming its a newer poem (lie detector etc).

There is an example of what some scots sound like when they speak.

Heres mine -

See thon caird
ah sent yee round
valentines?
Aye, well ah didny
mean it
Say geeus it back.
Cost me a fiver ya bam.
Ye ken I love you though eh?

"A Love Poem" is quoted from Leonard, Tom: "Intimate Voices", Selected work 1965-1983, published by Vintage,(London,1984),p.133.
There you see, it's quite new. Leonard is Glaswegian and especially concerned with the spoken language.

Sorry for my two spelling mistakes:
in the second stanza the correct spelling is "that" and in the seventh stanza it's "really" and not "rally".
