I say to the lads
Drink and be merry
But dont leave your soul clad.
For cheap liquor
Don't make fine drinking
Only the heart grows sicker.

So dance and bring your bottle
Fine Scotch Whiskey and tartans
And your whiskers and fire will be coddled.

Raise your glass
But not higher than your lass
Nor tip it over to harass
For fine liquor is hard to find
So don't sell your soul for a dime.

---Ok, it isn't the best. I was just playing with rhyming. My gift is with free verse...so
hehe I tried. = )

Cheers,

Lynn

Wow....

That is a much more revealing poem than you'd think. At first you mention liquor, (scots NEVER refer to "liquor") then talk about Whisky and tartan. So we think, oh, this person is scottish afterall. Then you go back to using "dime" - of course US currency.

You really proved your not scottish by saying

Nice poem though.

Yes...sad but true :^) I am an American with a longing for scotland. I dunno..I have been fascinated with my ancestoral background for a long time. I have mostly Irish ties, but I love Scotland for its people ( the real scots I have met here) and land...other stuff, but I really need to visit one day when I have the money to do so.
