Some ones I really enjoyed, that I haven't seen already mentioned here, are:

Dog Soldiers - more action/comedy than horror, but it's got werewolves in it (and is set in Scotland!)

The Descent - absolutely outstanding

Wolf Creek - disturbingly grusome violence in this amazing Australian film

The Devil's Backbone - one of the creepiest, and best, films I've seen for years. Spanish, with English subtitles.

What Lies Beneath - fairly standard faire, but some nice scary moments

The Company Of Wolves - excellent film, but not to everybody's taste

Alien - a classic

Now I'll have to rent The Descent, I remember seeing previews for it thinking it looked pretty darn creepy!

I liked a movie called Shallow Grave, which isn't the jump out of your skin horror, but still I found it very interesting. It takes place in Edinburgh if memory serves (haven't seen it since it was released.)

Thumbs up

I just saw it (Hostel)...let us put it this way....I will never smoke pot or drink in a foreign country and just run off to a place someone suggests.....it is a true horror....one that is the best I have seen in many years....it puts a new light on the sex tourism trade and snuff films and believe you me.....it could happen and maybe is happening that is the most horrible part of it......It could happen.....this one is a DO NOT MISS!
