What an awsome movie!

I had wanted to see it and was certainly not disappointed. It starts out a bit slow, but there is a point to that because you may think it's a movie about a horse winning some races. It's about much much more than that.

There are so many levels to this movie. It brings it's message in without the fanfare trappings of special effects and "shock value" action.

I think one of the most beautiful things about the movie is it's ability to convey meaning without telling you... like it becomes plain that the relationship between the owner and the jockey becomes like father and son. But it will never tell you that. Instead it shows you.

You peer into a different world for a little while... a time when things were very tough for all of America... the Great Depression... a time when people's spirits were broken, but if they were lucky, they might collect inside themselves the strength to become something far better.

I haven't seen it yet. Read the Walter Farley book waaaaaaaay back when, it was good, (if you are an 11 year old girl) It was anice story and pretty well researched. I just hope thay didn't "Hollywood" up the race culture!

I saw it with a friend who had just read the book, and they said they changed it a little in a couple places to make it more dramatic but that it wasn't changed that much.
