I have just, last night, finished reading Jean Auel's 5th book in her Earth's Children series which began with "Clan of the Cave Bear". Has anyone else read this book or this series?

I found Shelters of Stone to be redundantly boring. Too many repeating passages, too many missed chances for drama, too many elements that did nothing to advance the story line. Those that did advance the 'action' were weak and ineffective. I have read more interesting text books. The whole book seemed to me to be a set up for the next book which I understand is in the works.

I have read the first 4 books twice now and found them well worth a 2nd read. What happened to #5? Any thoughts?
