You saw a Studio Ghibli film in a cinema? You really are lucky.

I haven't seen that one yet, but my daughter & I are BIG fans of Ghibli & Miyazaki animations. Have you seen any of their other work?

i've seen Spirited Away and my Neighbour Totoro, as well as The Cat Returns (which came out in theatres about 3 weeks ago in France where i am for now). The cat returns was actually produced by Miyazaki.
i also managed to get a copy of The Last Unicorn, co-produced and co-written by Miyazaki and an other in the he 1980s.
the newest version of Laputa castle in the sky which came out last winter or autumn, is simply the old japanese version that came out in asia a long while ago.
its quite difficult getting to see all the works of the Ghibli studios.
I used to work on a show called Japan Expo, and we had a studio Ghibli Night, if i manage to get a hand onto the paper, i'll give your more titles of Miyazaki and Ghibli studio's movies that are really worth the while.
The cat returns suits all audiences, but i reckon its much more philosophical than any other of his movies i've seen so far.

I was going to ask where you were, Ghibli/Miyazaki films are so rarely shown on the cinemas here in Scotland. The Cat returns sounds really good, I think we'll order ourselves the DVD.

have you seen this site? http://www.nausicaa.net (I don't know how to put a 'live' url in a post) lots of information there.

the first one I ever saw was Laputa & it's still one of my favourites ... do you prefer dubbed or subtitled versions? I much prefer subs. I feel the dubs lose the essential rhythm of these works.

my daughter's studying animation at art college & Miyazaki is one of her greatest inspirations. she's planning a trip to Japan & the Miyazaki Museum as soon as she's graduated & earning enough money. the college has all of the Ghibli/Miyazakis on DVD ... she sneaked me into the library (disguised as a mature student) & let me have a look at Nausicaa & a short, a music video involving two young men rescuing an 'angel' ... wonderful stuff!

the Japan Expo show sounds interesting, what did it consist of?
