TISJ -

They were both teachers who wanted to make a lasting impression on the students... but the way they go about doing it is where the impossibility of an analogy becomes clear. In TSWL the teacher uses his understanding to help the children - Brodie uses hers for self aggrandisement; the educational and emotional welfare of the pupils in her charge are sacrificed to her own emotional needs.
