I´m always looking for good books, funny books, sad books, serious books, children books, classics etc.

What are your favourite books? Do you have any recommendations for me?

moonchaser...I loved Nancy Drew books when I was young too!

anneli... I've an avid reader and I've got some great recommendations for you:

"Cradle and All" by James Patterson
"Kiss the Girls" also by Patterson (his books are great!)

The "Everworld" series by K.A. Applegate...(it's a young adult fantasy series that blends mythology from different cultures). Even though these books are for younger readers I'm practically addicted to them because they're exciting, fun, and a quick read for when I don't have a lot of time.

"The Once and Future King" by T.H. White..classic..my fave!

"Sleepers" by Lorenzo Carcattera This is a pretty graphic, supposedly "true" story of young boys who are sent to a juvenile detention facility and abused.

"Kissing in Manhattan" by David Schickler This is a book of unique short stories. But the end of the book you realize how they're all connected.

Douglas Adams' "Hitchhiker" series are some of the funniest books I've ever read. If you haven't read them, you should.

"A Map of the World" (sorry...I don't remember the author's name)

"Holes" by Louis Sachar Once again, this is primarily for younger readers, but the book is so well-written and enjoyable. I was reading it to my 9-year-old sister and when we'd planned to read 1 chapter a day we were so caught up in the story that we read the whole book in a single sitting.

Anyway, I hope some of my suggestions were helpful to you...if not, let me know...I could go on recommending books forever!

Anneli, did you see the recent thread, What are your favorite books? Lots of great recommendations there. I'm trying out the Diana Galbaldon books right now.

Aren't they awesome!!.. I used to be soooooooo addicted to Nancy Drew.. loved it .. I would love to get my hands on some of the original books.. definately need to look into that..

Did you happen to see the movie they made? (I believe it was ABC network who televised it).

"Cradle and All" by James Patterson

Patterson is a great Mystery/Thriller author. I've never read 'Kiss the Girls'... but I did watch the movie rendition.. I liked that one.. I definately need to check out the book
I just started reading a triology by R.A. Salvatore.. 'The Dark Elf Triology'.. its fantasy but a very good read so far... highly recommend it!

moonchaser...

I would love to have the entire Nancy Drew collection as well. I have one VERY old Nancy Drew book that I bought at a garage sale a few years back. I had planned to try to find all the old copies through used book stores, etc. But that's a lot of work!

They sell classic Nancy Drew books in packs (of 4 I believe) in warehouse club stores like Costco and Sams (in the US). They have new covers...not as "vintage" not as cool, but I'm planning to buy them nontheless.

I didn't see the movie that ABC made about Nancy Drew...I've seen a few episodes of the old television series. But nothing can compare to the books, don't you agree?

Yes, if you have time read "Kiss the Girls". I saw the movie before I read the book and the book, of course, gives a lot more detail into what's going on.

I've never heard of "The Dark Elf Trilogy"...what's the basic plot?
