Sheilagh,
If you would like a suggestion for a suitable topic on Scottish culture, why dont you gather as much information as you can about the demise of the old Highland culture. The period covering the Highland clearances, when the indigenous populace were evicted from their homes to make way for the more profitable business of rearing sheep.
An ancient way of life was lost for ever as these poor people had to seek their fortunes in the new countries of America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Their story is as tragic today as it was 300 years ago. There are many books full of information on the subject, and perhaps the author with the greatest output is James Hunter. His title "A Dance Called America" is probably one of the best to come from the pen of this prolific author.
Enjoy,
Tom Buchanan.
