I enjoy historically novels the most, especially if they are set in Scotland, hihi!!!
MY favourite series would have to be the outlander series from Diana Gabaldon. Next to this I enjoy stuff from Anne Rice, Penelope Williamson, Susan Kay ... Always take pleasure in classics from Austen to Scott. Since I'm also a big poetry fan, I really like authors like Byron, Shelley, Burns, Rossetti, Wordsworth, Dickenson and many many more... Oh not to forget...my most loved novel is still and probably forever will be 'Wuthering Heights'.

I love poetry as well-Byron is one of my favs as if Burns. I used to enjoy my old job where the room I sat had a great acustics and would read the poetry out loud.

I'd be as well chucking in my tuppence worth.
Christopher Brookmyre. (As already mentioned a fair bit in the eponymous thread.) Haruki Murakami. (Don't be put off by the fact he's a Japanese author. He's fantastic! Love, life and humour) Katherine Kerr. (Fantasy. Great sweeping arc of celtic inspired books. 12 in all) Raymond E Feist. (Fantasy. The only author I think that can be on par with Tolkien) Ian Banks. (Fab Scottish author. When he writes about Scotland you know exactly where he's on about) Flyinghaggis: You mentioned Tom Clancy and David Gemmell. Have to say I've gone a bit off them both. Clancy's early stuff is great, but I felt the OpCentre books (or whatever they're called) weren't that great and from Rainbow 6 on in the Ryan series he's gone a bit down hill. With Gemmell I feel he started fantastically. Legend is great, but since then he's just been working in cliches; the master swordsman, the big bloke with an axe, the young wannabe etc etc. It's the same characters throughout the majority of his work. The only books that stand out are The Lion of Macedon and it's sequel (to a certain extent). They were amazing. Mata ne, Karasu
