thank you for responding to my little post, even though you are not an anne perry fan (if you read her books, though, you may become one). she writes murder mysteries set in victorian london. she describes everything in such a detailed, articulate way, and i love how she digs beneath people's "genteel" exteriors and flat out tells the truth about them. i love how she puts in social and political commentary and critique. i love the plots, i find them to be suspenseful, and i never know the ending before i read it (but maybe that's because i'm a bit daft).
![]() some of her books are on tape - i discovered her because i was trying to find books on tape to listen to as i animated - and the guy who reads them has such a great voice. i think his first name is david and last name starts with "mc" but i may be mistaken. so i recommend checking out her books on tape from the library, too. other mystery authors i love: agatha christie, walter mosley, georges simenon, and the children's writer john bellairs.
