Spiritual ancestry? - oh yeah that whole teutonic thing
![]() Are you supposting Ireland as well,Jacobitedreamer(as well as Germany I assume?)? I'm supporting USA in this tournament - imagine if USA were drawn against England and USA won...that would be such a sweet sight lol!Highly unlikely of course.

My heart's with Ireland this time and I think your version is great, USA against England and USA winning. But Ireland vs. England and Ireland winning would be DRAMATIC!!! ![]() By the way, what Teutonic thing are you talking of all the time? ![]() But back to the topic: Oh what cruel catastrophy is often caused by poetry when wine, not muse inspired him that wrote these words with hasty pen. No bread was left, the ale was gone, the landlord sent him bills So was the fatal error done His pockets for to fill. Away he went and sold his works and published them with haste But och, alas, his crooked words were not arranged with taste. But people thought his art was great and filled his empty purse the poor man found a happy fate but poetry was cursed... Have a laugh!

Nice verses Jacobitedreamer!I was just being cruel with mine but yours are actually quite good.
Btw your English is very good. Were you taught from an early age? And the German football team sound a lot like the English football team from what you said!

Hi, happy you liked the verses. They were the work of a minute, I did not really care about their quality. I think yours were better!!!
About my English, I am happy it is acceptable. ![]() I am educating my daughter bilingual now, as I am planning to go to Scotland for some time and would need to take her with me... And I think it will do her good, as she is very keen on learning. As for myself... For more than twelve years now, almost all the books I read are written in English (or Spanish), most of my friends speak English or Spanish, the best research material on Scottish history and modern medicine - it is all in English. The three years I worked at a lawyer´s office I did all the correspondence with our "alien clients". So I have a lot of training and I have to admit that I am a wee language maniac... But I don´t like German too much, it is a harsh language which does not offer a broad range expressions when writing poetry or novels. It´s easier for me in English or Spanish...
