Oor Wullie Game

Can anyone remember the name of a practical joke that Oor Wullie and his pals used to play on people ? It involved a whole length of thread or string, a metal washer or button or similar near to one end of the thread and a drawing pin. You pin one end (with the washer near) to a window head or sash, get out of sight and pull the other end again and again so the dangling washer keeps hitting the window and annoying the people inside.

Did it have a name like chickie-mealie or something ?

dont know mate

we used to tie thread to letter boxes and stand about 100 feet away and chap doors....was great fun watching them trying to figure out wtf was going on.

or if it was up a close we would tie the doors on either side together then chap them both

A length of string from behind the front fence to a handbag laying in the middle of the road was ours .
Great fun watching cars stop and drivers looking round to see where the bag got to .
