Translation needed - about family

I need an English to Scottish Gaelic translation for:

Blood doesn't ( does not) make a family

I have a very extended family and they are not all blood but I want to show them that they still mean the world to me.

Then tell them in a language that both you and they know.

I seen to recall an old Celtic saying that goes along the lines of
" birth strengthens the family for ten generations and fosterage strengthens it for a hundred "
or words to that effect .

My whole family is Scottish. My grandmother knows Gaelic but can't give me the exact wording for sure. I wanted to make something special with our coat of arms and also let the new ones that they mean a lot to us

The translation would mean a lot to my grandmother as well as me. Thanks

If you're Scots - then go along to a local college and ask if they supply translation services. Alternatively, go online and pay a translation service.

If, however, you are not a Scot, but someone with Scots ancestry - then I suggest you are cautious about asking for translations online - there are mischief-makers who might give you a rogue translation!

It amazes me that people want to put a tattoo on their body in a language that they cannot understand.
