This is news to the world . Tell us more

Various Viking groups had settlements in Ireland , mainly around the eastern coast .
They were not a single cohesive unit and no time did any of them ever rule Ireland .
At most , different factions allied themselves with this Irish tribe or that confederation , and fought against other Viking/Irish alliances .
When they were not waring among themselves that is , Norse against Dane etc

The two do sound different then you have to throw in the fact that there are different dialects within each country

Duthill's comment

True. The Vikings were never united in Ireland under a common ruler. More's the pity as they probably could have kicked arse all over Europe. But I stand by my comment that there is a heavy Norse influence along the southern and western coasts of Ireland.

It's also my understanding that the Vikings had a huge influence in the Hebrides, Orkneys and Shetland islands off Scotland during those times -- 9th century to 12th century. Lots of maurading going on, interspersed with strategic intermarriage between Highland chieftens and Viking warlords, to keep peace and protections in place. Interesting times, those were!

Do you have links to literature in the matter of the Viking settlements that were established on the West Coast of Ireland , conventional history is rather silent on this matter .

Gay marriages ?
Do you have links to that facet of history too ?
Those records must have been eradicated from the official record .
