Lowland Scots needs a new name

Any suggestions? As a literary language it has created some masterpieces and its a shame that the current name alienates Gaels, but a new name could allow it to be viewed afresh as a language from Scotland that could be inclusive rather than viewed as repressive or simply English. Lallans springs to mind as an obvious name. Its a Scots version of the word Lowlands and isnt as culturally loaded as "Scots".

Fit iver

I would point out though, that were it to be taken seriously as a language, a new makeover is in serious need of being planned. Doric or Lallans could be the names for a standard dialect or "byleid" of the language, much as Nynorsk and Bokmal are for Modern Norwegian (itself once defined as "Dano-Norwegian") and as to my "caireadan" here... I am guessing that you yourself have at least one as you both have made a similairly incorrect assumption.

We have Auld Scots, Scots, Lallans and the Doric.
That's enough descriptions of 'our' language.
