If people believe that Gaelic is a form of Irish Gaelic, then this has an influence on attitudes. Ive been corrected by a Yorkshire woman in Edinburgh, who has picked up the Edinburgh pronunciation of the language. Thats why I see the pronunciation as a slight against Scottish Gaelic.
