translation help for "faithful friend"

Hello all...I have a new puppy that will be a registered dog. His name is Angus, and I am hoping to make his registered name "Angus, faithful friend," or maybe "Angus, good and faithful friend."

I've been to other forums and found nothing but arguments about most English-to-Scottish Gaelic translation...is it as simple as just translating the words themselves, or is there more involved to create a translation that actually makes sense, syntax- and usage-wise?
