Epmc,
If you could let me know the context in which you want to use the word “tenacious” I might be able to give you a suitable word or expression to convey the meaning. A literal translation of one word or phrase is not always possible and may not give the meaning that you intend to convey. Crofter. |

Hi Crofter -
Hmmm... a little backstory, I guess, might help. My dad died recently, and just before, he gave a speech in which he described me as tenacious. I plan on getting a tattoo to remind myself - I'm thinking of tenacious as somewhere between determined, persevering, and just plain stubborn. I guess that if a phrase might be easier to translate, I'm looking for something like "be tenacious" or "stay tenacious." I'm not necessarily looking for a single word, if a phrase or expression would better suit. Hope this helps - thanks again. And let me know if further clarification would help... |

My condolences on your sad loss.
Some words are harder than others to translate directly and retain the intended meaning. Hope this will suit you, best I can do. Tenacious – Fèin Bharaileach (literally – self assured) “Fain Vareloch” Or: Tha mi cinnteach na mo bharalaichean (literally - I am certain in my beliefs) “Haa me keentach na mo varalichen” |
