Nope - the Irish by all accounts hate the way the purists shove Gaelic down their throat.

That's a bit of an overgeneralisation! Do the Irish have some kind of hive mind where they all think the same?

The Irish revival is done the wrong way for sure. Wales is a better example.

Welsh leaves the people with nothing.

What I am saying is yes its a good idea - but like alot in this world - the whole thing goes round quicker if we are realistic.

Who will suddenly want to start dealing with you in this world ' because' you speak gaelic.

So why all the effort and expense?

Yeah I would agree with that.

A friend of mine, who's wife was from Mull, told me that he wished he spoke Gaelic. I asked him why he didn't take evening classes, to which he replied that if he was going to take evening classes it would be more useful to study computing or something practical - a good point.

Lets not knock it too much - but to hold Scots Gaelic up as a banner for a Scottish language. I just don't know that would do any favours.

You could argue that Brythonic or Pictish is the true language. ? ! ?

To be perfectly honest I don't see the point of any of it.

English is the international language. Scots Gaelic is a dying language and it's a dying language for a reason - we don't need it.
