I got asked in London if i'm from Germany


It's even worse on the telephone, trying to speak 'proper' so they can understand me, makes me feel like a right t*t. I normally end up just speaking normal and letting them work it out for themselves. Mind you, being from Ayrshire i even get funny looks from Glaswegians from time to time.

I reckon spending a fair amount of time in the company of various thespians and voice/dialogue coaches on and off set, will brush off on anyone's accent after a while.

Pity that this is an old thread with most of the people gone. That's no confusing. The German accent has something similar to the Scottish accent, the r's l's, n's, and the short vowels, some u = oo sounding almost like the German ü...
