Hi there,

we do have a Scottish Terrier and we want to start breeding. For the name of our breed-location (I really dont know how to translate this correctly) we wanted "Rosegarden" because we do have lots of roses in our garden *gg*.

Can anyone please translate this "Rosegarden" to gaelic?

Greetings from Germany

Katherine

I hope you know the Scottish Terrier is also known as the Aberdeen Terrier. It has been a long time since Gaelic was spoken in Aberdeen. Just so you know.

Depends what you mean by that. There have always been Gaidhlig speakers in Aberdeen, although for a long while they have come in from the Highlands. Aberdeen University has one of the country's three Celtic dept.s.

Aberdeenshire on the other hand spoke Gaidhlig well into the twentieth century. The last known speaker of Aberdeenshire Gaidhlig died in 1988.

A pamphlet by Aberdeen University "Aberdeenshire Gaelic" has been published.
