My ancestors are from Leslie, Fife while I am from the USA. There are a few poems written about Leslie that I have found and one of them is quite long. There is a passage which says " As bairns we used to guddle in the Cammie". I believe I know what a "bairn" is and what "guddle" means but "Cammie" is unknown to me. Note the capitalization - perhaps a real river? I can't find such a river near Leslie in modern or older maps.
Anyone have an idea? BTW, the motto of Leslie is: "Grip fast". I love that. Mich |

Hi there. Cammie? I expect it is an abbreviation from the nme of a real river or burn (stream).
