Hello everybody! i wonder if you can help me - i'm currently writing a paper on RP and one of the aspects is the social one. as Scotland stands apart from wales and england ( and knowing about the distinguished scottish accents) , i think people should have a different attitude to it here. what do you know about that?..does anybody at all speak a pure RP in Scotland at all?

RP
Sveta
Even the BBC has very few RP speakers nowadays, no matter what they say! It used to be said that the purest speakers of RP were natives of Perth - but I think that's probably no longer the case. BTW, I really don't think you can lump England and Wales together.... they have totally different 'English'! |

Rp in scotland
well, i know that only some 3-5% of the british population speak RP, and it's true about bbc. i just wondered how RP is treated in scotland and what is the Scots' attitude towards this 'posh' accent...
P.S. i didn't mean to bring wales and england together, it happened by some weird mistake, really. |
