I'm afraid I can't make sense of that sentence.

Yeah, if state subsidised manufacturing is the high of your ambition for Scotland - yes, she damaged that. However her economic policies laid the foundations for Scotland's world-class financial sector, high-tech economy and plenty of other things besides.

Let's face it - given the choice, how many people in Scotland would prefer to be back in the dark days of the 1970s? A few foaming-at-the-mouth trade unionists, I expect, and that is all. Scotland is a far better place to live now than it ever has been.

I think that proves you aren't Scots.
That sentence makes perfect grammatical sense to those of us who speak Lallans or the Doric.

An early genesis of the 'no true Scotsman' fallacy? Either way, I couldn't give less of a toss about your image of what being 'Scots' involves. Probably being white, working class, aggressively Calvinist, an SNP supporter, state-educated and God-knows-what-else are essential attributes too.

That'll be pretty much no-one then, unless you're confusing Glaswegian street slang with an ancient linguistic variety.

Welcome BACK.... I love your new name.

I am a private-school educated woman, certainly white, not an SNP voter (just ask my pal Nonny) - but you go ahead and voice your prejudices. Nice to see you coming from a different angle in this persona.

Oh Polwarth, that's you tellt! Common little state-educated Glaswegian street urchin that you are!

Not that Viminalian, (friend of old Nova Britannia, perchance?), is sounding at all snobbish and prejudiced here. Not at all.

Unfortunately, the beast seems to be recovering and has left hospital.

I fear she's not human and will outlive us all.
