People have short memories, or perhaps being younger, have not so much personal experience.

Well, I think they’ve all had their moments, whether domestic or foreign policies or both.

Even in my time, I can recall Darling Harold’s “Pound In Your Pocket” speech just before major devaluation, Heath The Teeth’s 3 day working week and fuel/power rationing when calor and paraffin heaters became the norm at home and office that winter, James Callaghan’s union troubles which caused Europe to term the endless labour strikes of miners, car workers and many others “The British Disease” – plus the Winter of Discontent, Maggie Reichsfuhrer-SS Thatcher’s 3 million unemployed, guinea-pig Scotland and Black Wednesday which shattered many people’s dreams of house-ownership and keeping their jobs. Passing John Greyface Major, that takes us to Tony “WMD” Blair etc.

Thatcher was the greatest post-war PM. The Scots might not like her but that's their problem.

The usual job of the Tories is to clean up the economic mess left behind by Labour. The reign of the Labour Government of the 1970s culminated in disasters such as the Winter of Discontent in 1978/79, causing the Tories to win by a landslide in 1979.

Now, the Tories of 2010 are again having to clean up the economic mess left behind by a Labour Government (and one dominated by Scots).

Thatcher... ?

Aren't we the old Tory.

Truth is, Thatcher is hated by most Scots. She was a poor prime minister and economically made very poor decisions.

Selling-off publicly owned institutions at bargain basement prices, resulting in the economy eventually being reduced in size because people are paying large energy bills etc.

Killing-off the 'dead wood' of industry, thus putting many people on the dole (to which the tax-payer had to pay an ever increasing fortune to look after them. To this day, the remnants and children of these people are an underclass who suck away tax-payer money. Worse still, there is no manufacturing base in the UK unlike I Germany and Japan. Yes, those countries have problems but they have a manufacturing sector.

She annoyed the Chinese with her arrogance and they became less friendly during the Hong Kong negotiations and the deal was less good for the Hong Kong people.

She used the North Sea oil revenue to finance her various actions and the result is a divided society funded by Scottish fossil fuels.

It's noteworthy to add that most of the civil rioting that has taken place in the British Isles took place during her stay in power.

Let's not forget Northern Ireland; now we have a relative peace; Thatcher produced bloody mayhem. Many died who didn't have to; many have been disfigured; many live in wheelchairs; many have emotional scars that will never heal. All that said, the economy of Northern Ireland is a disaster too.

'Greatest'... don't think so. Time to take off the rosey Brit Nat spectacles and be realistic.

Interview with the widowed Duchess of Hamilton recently, she said that the only time she heard Angus, the late Duke, use bad language in relation to anybody, was Maggie Thatcher. If the Falklands War had gone tits up, she'd have been out of Downing Street toot sweet! people died by the score to save this stupid womans neck. the flag waving and Rule Britannia's were an embarassment, all for a rock in the South Atlantic owned by the Coalite Company. Guess who was a major shareholder of said company, Denis Thatcher. Her son was another pillock, mixed up in illegal arms deals, he should have been left in the Sahara or jailed.

Agreed. He's utterly corrupt.
