The Lebanese army was kept small precisely because of the religious and ethnic divisions in the country. Its officers are predominately Christian and the fear was that a powerful army would get embroiled in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Of course the Lebanese army couldn't disarm Hezbollah-which is why it's wrong to collectively punish the Lebanese people- but it is the failing of the international community who didn't attempt to address the issue. Perhaps the one good thing to come out of this is that the international community will have no choice but to try and deal with the problem of Hezbollah and provide the means to do it.

'failing of the international community who failed to address the issue' your having a laugh. i suspect your idea of a failing is the fact that israel still has legitimate borders and the extremists are still squabbling over ak47's and zionist brits and yanks.

I really would be intrigued to know how a tiny Lebanese army was supposed to disarm 20 000 well armed Hezbollah militia, and the rhetoric doesn't disguise the fact that in reality you don't have too much of a grasp of the facts. The UK had an obligation to Lebanon and at the risk of being excessively blunt Blair has behaved like a sh!t, but what else is new?

As i said dude, stop trying to make it seem like the problem stems from the lebanese/palestinian side alone.
Israel just butchered 300+ civillians. thats more than hezbollah and hamas have done in years.
Makes you wonder just who the real terrorists are.

Well certainly that's what the Israelis want people to believe and obviously they don't need to try too hard with gullible individuals like yourself. Of course it raises the question, if Hezbollah has been so badly damaged by these attacks then why are Israeli troops currently engaged in firefights with them in southern Lebanon, and why are Katyusha rockets still being fired into Israel? People like you are dangerous in a democracy-ignorance is the greatest weapon the politicians have.

how does a 3rd world country manage to launch 700 missiles, carry out cross border raids to kill/kidnap troops and finance the families of homicide bombers manage.

3rd world? nah. new world order.

I'm not going to take the time to explain the intricacies of the situation which are clearly beyond your grasp, but Hezbollah and Lebanon are not one and the same. You are supporting the bombing of Christians which really puts you on a par with Al Qaida and other Islamic terrorists. They support the bombing of Christians, so do you, ergo you are one and the same.

What aspect of Lebanon's conduct should they be condemned for? They have done nothing that justifies the flattening of their country and the destruction of their economic infrastructure, or the deaths of several hundred civilians.
