Just more ignorant, generalized statements form our resident rabble rouser.

If tsht is anti-McDonalds, maybe I'd better rethink my position on the place?

I actually like their food - and there is nothing wrong with eating it, in moderation.

Sherbrooke, have you seen the movie "Super Size Me"? It is about a guy who eats mcdonald's for one month, morning, noon and night for a month straight just to see what it does to your health. He started out with normal blood pressure, normal everything, and at the end of the month he was not healthy at all. But the key is moderation. Though I hate the place personally. My son wanted to go and would ask, "Can we go?" all the time. Instead, I made him some guanabana shakes and some tropical fruit treats that were attractive and served it in a margarita glass and made him a little pizza with lots of healthy stuff but it looked like a little volcano. He forgot about McDonald's. Hopefully permanently. They try to attract little children with the clown and the playplace playground and the whole happy meal with toys trip. And the food is processed and unhealthy. I think parents should be more creative and make food that is attractive for their children yet nutritious. Lol.

For the parents with no culinary skills I think they are victims of the McDonald's ads on TV and the children whining to go. Lol. Don't be a victim parents. Get creative in the kitchen with the youngsters. My child liked 'forbidden rice' it was the name I think. It is a healthy whole grain deep purple rice grown in China and southeast Asia. It is very interesting looking and you can make it 'dirt' and the veggies, 'worms' (kids like that stuff) and it is super healthy. Little pineapple boats filled with shaped fruit is good too. I have fun doing that stuff.

Sherbrooke, kids like watching you do creative things in the kitchen, it attracts their attention. Hmmm, I never thought a child his age would love all things from the sea but he does. And all this 'exotic' Puerto Rican food, Cuban food, Brazilian food, etc he has been eating lately he quite adores! Lol.

About the French. When I was in Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries the line to get a visa was very long (especially in the summer months), and the amount of those who were French tourists was astounding. They love touring Latin America. I asked them why in the line I was in, and it was simple, "It is inexpensive, the landscapes are stunning, the food is authentic, and the indigenous influence is pervasive, along with African and European as well. An interesting mix."
Boring and uninteresting? I don't think the French are that. They might be arrogant. But so are the Brits. Lol. And the Gringos are very arrogant but don't realize it. They think they are being down to earth or something. Arrogant about what? There are other nations with longer histories....better architecture, and deeper traditions. What the USA has is its youth and relative economic prosperity and maybe innovation in some fields which if it continues in its mediocrity in education it will lose as well. What makes the USA really fun? Two things. DIVERSITY and its beautiful lands that vary greatly. In the USA you have many people from many nations from allover the world living together and instead of appreciating all the diversity they have many USA citizens waste their time trying to make the different fill the mold of some generic person that is ficitional and never existed in the first place. Like All-American? Who is all American? Some blonde, freckled teenage girl that does cheerleading on the weekends at football games? Please. Lol. All-American, even the phrase is ficitonal. The Americas are many many nations. Diverse and interesting.

People waste too much time trying to fit some generic label instead of celebrating everyone's unique history and background.

Tea,
People eat at McDonald's all the time "billions" served. Why? Because it is fast, cheap, and convenient, and people's palates are highly adaptable. IF you grow up eating that stuff, then it tastes 'good' but if you grow up eating super fresh food pulled from the ground and prepared from scratch and then later on as a nearly adult person they take you to McDonald's and you taste it, it tastes like cardboard and you are not impressed. But someone likes the crap. Or they would not be in business.

As for Disney....there is nothing wrong with cartoons and fun. But they charge way too much for admission. They do. You have to have big bucks to eat, stay at a hotel there and spend time there. Big disney bucks. I think my son will enjoy more some fishing in the Caribbean and diving looking for sunken ships on a glass bottom boat....lol. And swimming at a water park where he may burn off his youthful energy and not have mom play soccer with him past exhaustion in the park.

I think Tea sees evil in too many places. Lol.

in my early teens, when i used to live in India, I used to go shopping for food quite often with my grandpa. Everything you bought was fresh- veggies that were at best 2-3 days old, chicken/lamb that were either slaughtered in the moring or slaughtered after you picked your chicken, fish that were caught just a few hours before ( we used to always do the shopping early in the morning - around 7am while the fishermen got to the market around 6:30 after hauling in their cache).
I still remember how much better the fresh foods tasted compared to frozen food or processed food. And trust me, it isnt comparable. Chicken tastes about 10x better when fresh than frozen, so do most meats and veggies.

Distant Celt, have I ever told you just how much fun you are to read? You are.

You like being thorough and meticulous in your analysis. And you enjoy debate. But, unfortunately many people in the internet come here not for intellectual development but for other nonsensical reasons. To scream, and to let off steam and to write sheer stupidities to get attention. I like Scotland.com because the moderators are numerous and they keep it fairly clean around here. The moderators of PR.com are absent 99% of the time and never around and the trolls have taken over completely. No decent debate of any sort for a long time. That is what happens when there are no boundaries or limits and posters don't get disciplined.

You find people on the internet just like in real life, some are great people to learn something from and others are a waste of your time. That is the way it is in real life as well.

Sometimes I wonder why some people write so much. I guess it is a way of expression that is non-threatening. Andy J writes so skillfully. So do you. Scottish Republican makes quick little comments with a lot of content. And others are just fun to read.

Hmmm, I wonder....I have a feeling Distant Celt you have enjoyed some of my posts. I have enjoyed yours a lot. Because I learn a lot from you. We have a saying in Spanish that applies to human relationships in real life and in the internet too, "No soy una monedita de oro para caerle bien a todos." Which means, "I am not a little gold coin which is well liked by all." I like the quality of people that like my writings. And I like writing. That is all that counts. Go out and write about that which you know well. And share what you know with others that appreciate it. I think that is a fine activity.

take care of yourself Precioso Distant Celt. Siempre.
