Has the New Scottish Parliament made any difference to the rights of the Scottish people, for the better or worse.

It is now over 8 months since I put this thread in and I have not seen any improvement in the country as a whole, only in so far as the Parliament building is now well over its budget, but that was bound to happen, Just more money for the taxpayer to find. Has anyone else seen any improvement in Scotland or its outlook.

Wink Re : Scottish Parliment

Unfortuately, they(being the british gov)haven't gotten around to finishing conning the Scottish people out of millions and millions for a parliment building that isn't nearly finished yet. In fact not many people know when it will be finished and why its so expensive and why its so ugly and doesn't reflect a scottish identity - another millenium Dome ??? Then theres the point about having rather too many first ministers in such a short space of time. Corruption. Problems with Westminster having too much power and dictating to the Scottish Parliment on how it should be run but at least its a begining. But back to your question although as a Scot I am very much for devolution when it is run properly but unfortunately so far Scots have been getting a poor deal for their money and the New Parliament is a bit Chaotic not to mention the heavier burden on Scots purses without getting much of a return for the investment. I think Scots should have been able to vote for their own choice of First Minister seperately from
voting for the MSP's and I think that the Scottish Parliament should have greater powers - By the way this is only a few scattered notes but hopefully there are a few valid points in there

Scotland isnae better off with the Parliament we have now. We will be better off when the people of Scotland realise that Westminster governments dont give a **** about Scotland's interests. Parties like Labour, LibDems and the Tories make all these promises to Scotland in their manifestos and then magically forget about them when they form a government. The only parties that can be trusted to stand-up for Scotland in Westminster and Holyrood on every issue are the SNP and the SSP. The rest are more worried about what London wants. The sooner Scotland becomes a Republic, free from the UK, free from Westminster, and free from the Monarchy the better.

Is there any particular reason people are writing in the style of the Broons and Oor Wullie on this thread?

Maybe this is the main effect of the Scottish Parliament so far......
