Does anoyone here believe that state-sponsered "suicide" should be legal. Especially in cases where there is no more hope for life but constant pain and misery including cases where some-one has been in a coma for years and has no hope of recovery

Euthanasia is a tough one. I think it gets more complicated when government and other establishments get too involved in matters of human dignity. Modern funerals are already too clinical. I don't think death should be like that. I think people need to find their own solutions.

People have the right to plan their own deaths,

I think the morons who are opposed to euthanasia are torturers

Well, yes. Solutions such as having the right to choose to arrange their own death without the government telling them that it is illegal.

I'm opposed to euthanasia and I think it should be discouraged. There have been cases of people being diagnosed as terminally ill who subsequently recovered. In fact the patient doesn't have ultimate control in choosing to arrange their own death because a doctor has the final say and they are not morally or legally bound to agree to the patient's wishes. It's an added burden for Doctors who already work under stressful conditions. In the Netherlands it was found that legalising euthanasia-

"tends to undermine the efforts and creativity of those commited to providing palliative care to a terminal patient."
