Try hanging a child's shoe bag over the car window to blosk out the bright sun. The bag' "poskets" will also provide sotrage space for some of your youngster's favorite toys.
With a toddler, if you have a choice, set out for a long car trip about an hour or two before his naptime or bedtime. Then, just about the time the child gets fussy, he will probably fall asleep. To avoid further upset, dress the child in his nightclothes before setting out on your trip so that you need not awaken him upon reaching your destination. Some Household Jobs a 5-Year-Old Can Do 1. Make her own bed every day. It may be a litttle sloppy at first, but it will improve in the course of tome. 2. Put clothes back in the closet or proper dresser drawer. 3. Put toys in the toy chest. 4. Water houseplants. 5. Feed the dog, cat, or goldfish (if she's reminded). 6. Set the table. 7. Clear the table, one thing at a time. SICKROOM TIPS---If your patient is nauseous, put a garbage-bag liner in th watebasket and keep it near him at all times. When the bag has served its purpose, you have a neat, instant and osorless disposal. When the patient needs a bed-pan, rinse it in hot water first---to take the chill off it. No hot water bottle? Fill a heavy-duty glove with hot water. Close it tightly with a strong rubber band and wrap it in a towel. A plastic bottle with a tight-fitting lid will also server as a substitute hot-water bottle. To prevent bedside-table crowding, hang a multipocketed shoe bag by the bed. This makes a handy holdre for tissues, eye-glasses, combs, and all the other little things that a bedridden patient may use. [Edited by Texasmujer on 9th May 2005 at 18:39] |
