You can get ready for company in no time. Really. Follow these five quick and easy steps:

1. FOLD blankets and arrange pillows on sofas and
stack newspapers and magazines. Toss toys and other
stray items in an empty laundry basket.
2. LOAD dirty dishes in the dishwasher, toss food
wrappers in the trash and wipe off the kitchen table
and counters.
3. HANG fresh towels in the bathroom. Spot clean the
mirror, counter and sink. Give the toilet bowl a
quick scrub and clean the seat and rim.
4. SPRITZ a cloth with multisurface cleaner and wipe
switchplates and knobs near the entryway so the house
smells fresh when guests arrive.
5. FINALLY run a comb through your hair, light a fragrant
candle and sit back and wait for the doorbell to ring.

No, keep posting them please. I'd love to be organised but I think it must be genetic and I was passed over in favour of my brothers.

Sob Sob Sob Yes, I *could*, I suppose, tidy up my place in minutes. Thing is, I notice you didn't specify approximately how *many* minutes, Texasmujer! I mean, even if I had to measure it in weeks, it would be be countable in minutes, so, that's all right, really, I suppose.

? I mean, I'm sure it would be OK

? (getting very plaintive now)

(btw, one benefit of bad eyesight is the amusement to be gained from somtimes reading something wrongly on first glance. However, I quickly realised that the thread title did not say "spliff", but I did have to read it again , then laugh!

Hmm, let's see...
1 - "an empty laundry basket" haha- you crazy fool!
2 - " LOAD dirty dishes in the dishwasher". I should *eat* the dirty dishes? (tee hee, that sentence sounds rather as though it should be "I should eat the dirty dishes already!"
3 - OK - no BIG problem there, just that "spot-clean" - hmmmm - yes, though, I *think* that just might be Celyn-manageable.
4 - ah yes. Of course, it would have to be a very good spritzing, since the best place for the cat litter tray is ...oh go on, have a guess... jsut at the door! Tee hee - oh dear.. oh well, who wants visitors anyway?
5 - ah, yes, I love fragrant candles, but I have convinced myself that I cannot feel confident about anything that involves a naked flame where either the cat or the bad luck gremlins might be able to get at it.

Ah - a note regarding point 5. That's it! Set my flat on fire...flat is immediately tidied up in minutes. Now I get it.

(Ohhhhh,( Texasmujer, I suddenly realised this sounds as though I am mocking your good suggestions. No - I am really jsut laughing out loud about my domestic goddess shortcomings, that's all, and hoped it might entertain others.)

I thinks, though, that I am with Vinotinto -it's all gentic and I got missed out! ( Most probably got missed out of getting the "organised gene" because of being too DISorganised to queue on the right day.

In case it is compulsory to offer *some* kind of trick, no matter how meagre, in this forum, let me say that heating up a pot with a little water and a little nice spcies - say, cinnamon, is good at giving a vague impression that good things do happen in the kitchen. Nonsense, of course, but......haha - it is a cunning plan worthy of Baldrick.

Doesn't matter whether anyone is fooled or not - *I* like it, so that is all that matters!

Oh, you guys...you've got my 'secret'---I'm NOT at all a good housekeeper!! However, the more I enter household hints info, the more I clean my place! And, yes, I spend most of my time here at this site...and not cleaning my place...I think that I'll have to hire someone to come in and clean my place. Now, where wa that link concerning the Slave?! ...oh, slave...where's my whip? thigh high boots? And...here's another trick with cinnamon...place some cinnamon on a cookie sheet (in the oven), turn up the heat to about 325 degrees farenheit (? celcius)...the scent will spread throughout your house---if your lucky. Maybe your visitor will forget to notice the condition of the house!
