Small children love band-aids. In fact, they often leave them on beyond the time needed. The poblem is that infants and toddlers may pull a bandage off their hand either deliberately or accidentaly, creating a choking risk. To prevent this from happening, I tell parents to put their baby's hand and arm into an adult-size sock (or any sock big enough to do the job.) Fasten the cuff of the sock onto the shoulder of the child's garment with safety pins. He can still use his hand more or less as though he were wearing a mitten, while the boo-boo has a chance to heal safely.
