Em most scots aren't too political anyway,although students are probably different lol

Mamie - my theory here,as I've just noticed,depends on bloodline monarchy being the most primitive sort.The examples you cited are probably historically speaking progressions from the first bloodline monarchies - what you get when the people have some kind of say in the matter,whereas bloodline monarchies impose themselves opportunistically by brute force.Is that buyable?

that's how they got there but what keeps them in power. There had to be an advantage in most cases. Perhaps to the powers behind the thrones?

Yeah -they buy off the right people.Have you noticed that many corrupt institutions based on privelage resemble the mafia?I'm sure you have! lol One of the key ingrdients is that they have at their centre a corruption of the golden rule:instead love your fellow man as yourself its love your fellow hood/freemason/muslim/ as thyself,and to hell with everyone else(unless of course they want to join).
