Hi There,
My name is Robert D Mackenzie. I was trying to find some info on my family tree and I have no idea where my family is from and what they did nor how they got to Canada.. All I do know is that my grandfathers name is Bob Mackenzie that died just this pasted year in Canada. But thats all I have so if anyone can help me find my family I would be more than happy.

thank you very much,
Rob

The McKenzies of Scotland have along history in Scotland. They originated around the Beauly Firth, Kintail and as far west as Lewis, where they helped destroy the power of the Lords of the Isles (Mcdonald and McLeods). They were created the Earls of Seaforth for their efforts. They took part in the 1715 rebellion for which they where attainted.
in 1793 Alexander Mckenzie became the first white man to cross Canada. and in Canada continued the feud with the McDonalds, depriving them of many senior posts in the Canadian goverment. McKenzies still hold there land in Ross and Cromarty and indeed have extended them.
