i must write a survey over scotland, and i want to show both flags (the andreascross and the yellow one with the lion) but i need more information about the lion.
who can help? or gimme some links?

Hornet,
Strictly speaking the lion rampant is not a national flag but the royal standard of the King of Scots.Technically it is considered improper for anyone except the reigning monarch of Great Britain to fly the flag.It is thought to have originated in the Twelfth century and was possibly first used by the Scots King William the lion(1143-1214).
