Is there another way to look at war though? The modern societies which we live in,our values and attitudes have been to a very great extent shaped by wars. Many of the technological advances in medicine and science which make the world a better place exist as a direct result of war.Few British people are ashamed of our imperial past yet our power only existed due to our willingness to engage in wars which were frequently unjustified. It is a necessary evil which has allowed the human race to progress and develop rather than stagnate.War is social Darwinism in operation-the nations which are weak succumb to those which are strong and thus the value systems of powerful nations are adopted by weaker nations to their benefit.I don't necessarily believe that war is a good thing however it has in the past often been the catalyst for positive change.
