The famous 147 year old Ayrshire monument to Sir William Wallace is under threat of demolition by South Ayrshire District Council. The monument is called Barnweil Tower situated as it is on top of Barnweil Hill seven miles north of Ayr off the A77 on the B730 east of Bogend Toll. Please register your support to save Barnweil Tower by writing to: CEO. South Ayrshire Council. County Buildings. Wellington Sq. Ayr. KA7 1DR. (e-mail address is not known).

Why are they doing this??

Being a Wallace by birth(no relation to W.W) I think that they should
think again about destroying one of the monuments to this great man.

Logic doesn't come into it..I do not know why they are doing it, but it seems to be planned.

It definitely stinks, especially as the Wallace Well near Robroyston in Glasgow seems to be under threat too. Weird!
