Shipping records

Does anyone know if there are shipping records available from Ireland to Scotland any time from 1827 to 1855.

I have a great grandfather William Laughlan born 15 April 1827 in Drumachose, Co. Derry, Ireland (a Protestant) - who married a scottish lady Jane Grieve born 1833 in Paisley, Renfrewshire on 16th Oct 1855 in St Patricks, Partick, Renfrewshire.

I'd like to find out when he arrived. I am having difficulty with the spelling of the name as I've seen it as Lacklan, Lachlan, Lachland, Loughlin, Laughlan(d) - so any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry - I have now retyped this in Genealogy.

G'day.

I can't help you with your passenger list query, but was interested to see you have interest in the sheet area of Petersfield in Hants (usual abbreviation in UK for Hampshire!). I lived for a little while in Petersfield. Have you found this link re Sheet?

My bet is it will be spelt Laughlan.

Why don't you email the regestra, births, deaths and marriages at Renfrewshire council. They will tell you how far back their records go and where to find information before it was recorded by them, they will probably be able to point you in the right direction in Ireland too

Good luck let us know how you get on
