Smile Cruden Bay 1939

I am researching a story about a German barrage balloon that along with 1500 feet of cable drifted across the North sea to get stuck on a fence at Cruden Bay, Aberdeen on 10th October 1939. Can anyone help with this story?
It was quite a nice present from Hitler as we did not know how technologically advanced the Germans might have been and gave us a great insight into the limits of their balloons when flown.
I am hoping someone might have some snippets about the story not found in the aviation archives( who limit their details to the date and location and do not mention any local inhabitants ).
Thank you

1939 German Balloon

This sounds like an excellent plot for a movie! I hope you find some good information and a good screenwriter.
