How about R.B.Cunninghame Graham, who is pretty much unsung these days, better known in South America, where there are streets named after him, than his native land. Traveller, landowner, horseman, cotton planter, linguist, swordsman, author, gaucho, rancher, radical politician, championed the Apache case, founded the Scottish Labour Party & the Scottish National Party. An aristocrat who fought for the working man. Possibly the rightful king of Scotland, if the Graham of Menteith case holds water. A buddy of Hudson, Wilde, Conrad, Keir Hardy, etc' etc' His books (35) are rare nowadays, if you see one, buy it!, as he writes like an angel. If George Square, Glasgow lacks a statue it should be Don Roberto. You just couldn't invent this guy.
