Scottish myths and legends

Hello!
I´m a German student and I´m very interested in Scottish myths and legends. I do an assignment on this subject for school and I want to ask you some questions.

- Which old myths do you know? Which are the most famous ones?
- Are there any cryptic incidents going on in Scotland? Apparitions of ghosts, new myths about Nessie…?
- Are there any significances or consequences of these myths to your daily life, maybe in tradition, way of
life, special holidays, tourist attractions etc.?
- ...
