I seem to recall that Drimintorran was an area owned by MacDonalds of Glencoe - but I'm not sure why I think that!

Try doing a google search for Drimintorran + MacDonald and see if anything comes up!

You are right Polwarth, there is a connection between the MacDonalds of Glencoe and Drimintorran... in the book Glencoe and Beyond: The Sheep Farming Years 1780-1830 by Iain S. MacDonald chapter 7 covers The MacDonalds of Drimintorran, of the Family of Glencoe. Other searches confirm what Duthill says, that Drimintorran is in the Sunart area... it now appears on the OS map as Drumnatorran to the north of Strontian!

But..... I don't think i've ever seen that book, let alone read it, SS!

Maybe I read it in some other Glencoe book. But whichever, it must have been a really long time ago!

I've never read that book either, but a search on Google for Drimintorran brought up the relevant details... and then a search on the OS map gave the name the place is referred to as now!
