I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that once archaeologists have temporarily finished with the Gask Frontier, it is intended to do exactly that.

I've been reading a lot about the Agricolan and Serveren campaigns in the "north" of Scotland, and am becoming more and more convinced (in my mind) that Agricola probably returned south through the Spey valley. I think there should be the remains of marching camps down that way..... As far as I know, nobody has really looked for them. The google earth imaging of the area isn't of sufficient resolution to make out any such remnants (should the exist).

Hi lianachan....

I've attatched a photo of a reconstructed roman watchtower in Germany
by the town of Lorch in 1969 in the supposed location of Tower WP 12/14 although the location of this tower has never been firmly identified. It stands very near in the vacinity of the Lorch Cloister.
The entrance of the reconstructed tower, being at ground level, is an exception to the way these towers are known to have been constructed, with the entrance one story above ground level. It's possible to enter the tower and climb the stairs to the top without a key....

Wall gains World Heritage status

The thread was opened because of discussions to place the Antonine Wall on the list of World Heritage Sites.

Well, it made it!
