I know Cuchulainn is Irish history, or I should moreso say legend, but his skills were supposedly taught in the warrior-woman Scaithag's (spelling is wrong) school. Has anybody heard about actual evidence supporting Scaithag's famous warrior school where thousands of young men went to train from across Gael? It was apparently in Northern Central Scotland, where Cuchulainn and Ferdia took the gap between Ulster and Alba.
Thanks.. |

I have heard of the mythological Cuchulainn, but the only reference I have ever seen to Scaithag is in video games.
I have done a lot of reading about Scottish history and folklore - but this is a new one to me. |

Unless you're familiar with the Ulster Cycle of Ireland, it'd be hard to hear about Scaithag and Skya's Alba warrior school. It was around 33 B.C. some scholars believe. (When Maeve & Ailill ruled Connacht)
Nevermind about the topic :P |

In myth, Cuchulainn while dying and the surrounding armies of Ireland, walked to the river and a light haloed his body. After taking a drink, and kissing his dead charioteer's head (coincidentally named Laeg mac Riangabra or something similar to that) and then impossibly walked to a huge pillar, tied his body to a standing position, and the Morrigan (in raven form) landed on the pillar as if to protect him.
In this stance they said he portrayed the God Lugh. So, I would think it would have to do something with protecting the city. He protected all of Ulster by his lonesome. Or, it could be because of his final battle and his tying himself up to the pillar. I haven't seen this yet, where in Dublin is it? |
