King Arthur movie... taking liberties?

Anyone seen the recent King Arthur movie? Is it my imagination or did they change a lot of the facts around Hadrian's Wall?

They went out of their way at the beginning of the movie to tout that "recent historical facts have come to light" or some such thing, implying they now "know" the identity of King Arthur...

...and then they have King Arthur, a Roman soldier, fighting the "pagan Saxons"...

...and then King Arthur switches sides and fights for the Saxons at Hadrian's wall...

The whole thing has me completely confused!

Yeah, yeah, i know... you're going to tell me i shouldn't be trying to learn history from the movies and, YOU'RE RIGHT!

But the premise was intriguing, however it left me confused about Hadrian's wall. Care to comment?
