I think most intelligent people see the European Union in its present form as an expensive ill thought out monster, i think anything with the likes of Neil Kinnock and Peter Mandelson involved is never going to be anything but a vehicle for the aforesaid to have free food, drink , and all the other perks of office.

its just another layer of government that churns out crazy rules and regulations,
perversly its also the only thing that would ever get independance for Scotland, none of the mainstream partys would ever allow an independant scotland, and the SNP will not realisically win the next election.
The only way would be for europe to legistlate to nullify the union, as european law supersedes British law, or will do at the rate Tonys signing it away.

Hirta... by the way I see the whole thing as a kind of political re-orientation, as if claiming that the EU alone has some exclusive right to inherit the name "European".

No worse than the Yanks stealing the name of two continents I suppose though.
