The name Jacobite comes for the Latin Jacobus meaning James. As Neil says, when James VII was deposed from the thrones of Scotland, England and Ireland in 1688/9, those people who continued to support him were known as Jacobites. They continued to support his son and grandson, and staged several uprisings against the new kings, the most notable of which were in 1689, 1708, 1715, 1719 and 1745. They failed though and support for them faded away.

Ya, and on one side of my family the geneology goes back to Joseph of egypt. alot of people have records like that. so much for fairytales. Best way to find out if God is real ask him your self. But beware, if he shows you he expects you to obey All the bible teachings. Lots of people need thier own testemony. nothing wrong with that. Only thing wrong is if they have an opinion without finding out for sure and influance others to believe it's a fact.
